With the second half of the school year now in full swing, for many students the next couple of months will be spent getting ready for the spring SAT or ACT. The first thing you want to ask yourself is “When should I take the test?”
Most students take the test during the spring of their junior year and/or the fall of their senior year of high school. At least half of all students take the SAT or ACT twice. If you are a junior, we recommend at a minimum you take your first test in the spring of your junior year as it gives you plenty of time for a second try if you are not happy with your score.
Once you have chosen your test and exam date, we recommend you start to prep at least 2 to 3 months in advance of the Test Day. For example, if you are preparing for the May 3rd SAT – you should begin your prep plan no later than the beginning of March, or sooner depending on what target score you hope to achieve.
To see scheduled test days, please check the websites below:
SAT: http://sat.collegeboard.org/register/sat-us-dates
ACT: http://www.actstudent.org/regist/dates.html
Each website lists exactly when the registration deadlines are as well. Make sure to register in advance before your preferred test center is filled up.
